description Human herpesvirus 7 (HHV7) pneumonia is rare. In this article, one case of HHV-7 pneumonia was reported. The clinical manifestations were cough, expectoration, and fever. CT scan of the chest showed flocculent dense shadows, nodules accompanied by halo signs, and progressive cavities. Conventional anti-infection therapy yielded low efficacy. The diagnosis was confirmed by metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and the condition was improved after adding ganciclovir. The diagnosis and treatment of this case suggest that clinical symptoms of HHV-7 pneumonia are atypical and imgaing manifestations are non-specific. BALF-mNGS contributes to confirming the diagnosis for patients who are not effectively treated with early anti-infection therapy.
