Description
Summary:This paper explores of the EU experience on combating violence against women, in particular by providing policy-makers with comprehensive data on the scope, nature and character of this problem through organizing and conducting of special survey. Author analyses the findings of the first EU-wide survey on violence against women conducted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights in 1992. Women were asked to provide information about their personal experience of various forms of violence, how often they have experienced cer¬tain types of violence, and what consequences violence has had on their lives. The results from the survey interviews can be looked at alongside existing data and gaps in knowledge on vio¬lence against women at EU and Member State level, and is ready to be used in the development of policies and action on the ground to combat this human rights violation.
