description The enzyme lysozyme has wide application in food and health industry due to its antimicrobial properties. Different alternative sources are used for the extraction lysozyme. One such alternative source ca be Galleria mellonella biomass, the larva of which can digest polyethylene. The method was developed using an ultra-high pressure liquid chromatograph Vanquish H from Dionex, with fluorescent detector. The quantification limit obtained was 0.1 ng/ml and the recovery after solid/liquid extraction was 87.3 %. The samples were extracted using 30 ml of 33% NaCl. The extracted was purified using 0.5 g Florisil column. The mobile phase was a mixture of water and acetonitrile with 0.1 % trifluoro acetic acid. Very small quantities of lysozyme were found in the Galleria mellonella biomass.
