Description
Summary:In 1900, Dutch writer Frederik van Eeden published the novel "Van de koele meren des doods". Since then, the novel has been reissued or adapted many times. The most recent edition is by publisher Lalito, which published a reprinted version in September 2020. This version includes a preface by Van Eeden that he wrote for the second edition, a commentary by classical languages teacher Els Meeuse, and a list of translations of Sister Paula's French-language aphorisms. The use of a smaller font and larger paper size has also reduced the page count from over 500 to 230 pages of story (excluding preface and explanatory notes). All attempts to make this nineteenth-century work more accessible to a contemporary reading audience.
