Summary: | The jewish minority has settled in Majorca during the first centuries of the Middle Ages. Considered an asset to facilitate the transition after the Reconquest, the Jews obtain privileges guaranteed by the royal power. A first inflection of their fate occurs, when the Church emphasizes its efforts to convert this religious minority. Between the 15th and the 17th centuries, although there are no jews anymore in Majorca, their converted descendants are discriminated as Xuetes. |
