Description
Summary:The aim of the present research was to investigate the roles of defence mechanisms and self-concepts of married males and females in the prediction of their love stories. A correlation study was designed to evaluate the relationships. A population of 350 married students (20-45 years old) of Islamic Azad Universities of Tehran were selected based on non-random sampling method. The data was collected by Defence Style Questionnaire (Andrews, 1993), Sternberg's Love Story scale(?,?), and six-factor Self-concept scale (Stack, ?). Pearson correlation and multiple-variable regression by SPSS Software was used for data analysis. The research findings revealed a significant positive relationship between the sub-scales of self-concept and love story. Moreover, a relationship between defence styles and love stories was found. According to the regression results, subscales of love story could be predicted by defence styles and self-concept. These findings in the area of intimate relationships can be useful for couple therapists.
