description Introduction: aesthetic or cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that solves problems related to oral health and the aesthetic harmony of the mouth as a whole. Objective: to characterize the treatment used in patients with dental aesthetic alterations attended in stomatological services. Method: observational, descriptive and cross-sectional research in patients with dental aesthetic alterations at the “5 de Septiembre” University Polyclinic of Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río from June 2019 to June 2020. The sample consisted of 135 patients. The Ingeborg-Jacobsen classification was used to classify traumatic injuries. Results: 67,4 % of the patients were female, 38,5 % were between 20 and 29 years old. Dental trauma (53,3 %) and neck caries and abrasions (43 %) were the most frequent cosmetic alteration. 59,2 % of the patients with dental trauma presented an uncomplicated crown fracture. 43 % of the patients received a restoration of neck caries and abrasions and 36,3 % treatment with composite resins. Conclusions: aesthetic dental alterations were common in the first decades of life, mainly in females; where dental traumas such as uncomplicated crown fracture, as well as neck caries and abrasions were the most frequent. Among the main applicable therapeutic alternatives were the restoration of neck caries and abrasions and treatment with composite resins.
