description In this article it is proposed a study on the use of the concept of madness as a political rather than a medical-diagnostic tool. In particular, the aim is to show how the attribution of elements of madness to the aggressor is a pattern that has been repeated many times with the aim of discrediting the opponent’s political reasons and translating them into pathology. To this end, particular historical cases are examined, such as the Mau Mau revolt against the British colonisers and the affair of Ulrike Meinhof, leader of the terrorist group Raf.
