description A calibration method of indication error of grade III standard metallic scale based on length measuring machine is proposed. The existing length measuring machine is reformed to realize the calibration of the indication error of grade III standard metallic scale. According to the proposed calibration method, the evaluation model of measurement uncertainty is established, and the source of uncertainty is analysed. The expanded uncertainty is less than one third of the maximum permissible error specified in the verification regulation, which verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the calibration method.
