Summary:Abstract We investigated a case of a peripherally inserted central venous catheter associated with iliolumbar venous extravasation in an infant. Hyperosmolar infusion and calcium gluconate caused phlebitis and vascular perforation. Daily monitoring of the catheter length at the insertion site and serial radiography may aid in detecting catheter movement.
