Description
Summary:In order to understand how fiction can exert power over an audience, the author focuses on fans living on the island of La Réunion. Through interviews with some of the island’s youth, the author shows how fans’ practices are made all the more complex because of the cultural dynamics of a multicultural, postcolonial and creole society. As a consequence, these young fans develop a set of hybrid practices that, on the one hand, limit the audiovisual’s power to “affect” while, on the other hand, strengthening the potential of fans’ adaptability.
