Summary: | This article explores the hybridity of a public consultation articulating materiality, argumentation, and social relationships, the dynamics of which have been studied by the author. Ethnographic fieldwork in La Réunion revolved around the monitoring of a national park team and shows how the resources mobilized change in meaning, in a context where debate cannot be limited to argumentative practice focused on the spoken word. The categories of displacement and indexicality are used to understand the role that objects play in interactions ranging from negotiation to conflict. |
