Summary:During the droughts in the 1950s, the semi-arid workers were employed on several fronts of services triggered by authorities on the grounds of providing aid to the poor and control migration to other states. By achieving occupation in the works, the workers were experiencing a lack of absence of families, water scarcity, hunger, heavy duty and underpaid with food. Moreover, food insecurity added to the unsanitary conditions in the works resulted in the spread of disease, accidents and even death. In this sense, it is intended discuss the problems involving food, hunger, in addition to diseases and accidents.
