En este trabajo, se aborda el uso político que las crónicas medievales hispanas hicieron del Décimo Trabajo de Hércules consistentes en robar los bueyes de Gerión. En este estudio, comprobamos como el mito se resignifica para poder ser relacionado con la historia bíblica, concretamente con la repoblación del mundo por los descendientes de Noé y como Hércules termina siendo el iniciador de un linaje de monarcas hispanos.
Abstract
This work deals with the political use that the Spanish medieval chronicles made of the Tenth Work of Hercules consisting of stealing the oxen of Geryon. In this study, we see how the myth is resignified to be related to biblical history, specifically with the repopulation of the world by the descendants of Noah and how Hercules ends up being the initiator of a lineage of Hispanic monarchy.
