Description
Summary:Since the beginning of the millenium, ICTs (cell phones, mail or web sites) have come to play an increasing part in the life of migrants. Like migrant newspapers before them, web sites are created by migrants in order to maintain a link between the members of communities who increasingly refer to themselves as « diaspora ». This paper questions the definition of and methods for observing these « diasporic web sites » and concludes that they may help develop and strengthen the feeling of a common identity among dispersed communities.
