Summary:The paper analyzes the iconography of the images on the seals and coins of the Byzantine Doukas dynasty (1059-1078). It points to the iconographic motifs the Doukas emperors introduced or reintroduced into Byzantine sphragistics and numismatics. What is especially highlighted is the power of the Byzantine imperial ideology of the divine origin of emperorship which played a prominent role in the iconography of the imperial seals and coins of the Doukas dynasty.
