Description
Summary:What is colonial in the relations of care in colonial situation? The medical refusal, often highlighted in the colonized Algeria, is not the only attitude. Voluntary approaches to see a French doctor exist, from the end of the 19th Century and more clearly in the interwar period. After introducing the French medical landscape in the Algerian countryside and the medical offer for the “natives”, we will observe how they could express a medical request, the many challenges impeding the wider implementation of a colonial health care. We shall see then what we can know about the encounter between the patient and the doctor, but also about the use of drugs and about the medical observance.
