Description
Summary:Corynebacterium jeikeium has been reported to cause sepsis primarily in patients with hematologic malignancies. Skin lesions, swelling and bruise on the fourth metacarpophalangeal joint, associated with fever, developed in a 49 years old man with acute myeloblastic leukaemia following induction therapy. C. jeikeium isolated from two blood cultures was found to be multiresistant, being sensitive only to vancomycin and teicoplanin. There was a symptomatic improvement with vancomycin therapy.
