| description | The article is on a new form of tourism, voluntourism, which little research has been conducted about. The action among three foreigner voluntourists and some children at a slum was focused trying to assess the emotions sparkled by picture taking, which lead to a review on some previous concepts about relationship between tourists and photos. Participant observation was chosen as research methodology whit in depth interviews with key informants (local leaders, voluntourists, agents), semi-structured questionnaires and a focal group. Photo-ethnographic material as well as field observation were centered in games and recreational activities played by them. Researchers were trying to understand the complexity of voluntourism but their ambiguous position in the field came also to be an important research issue. |
