In this article I explore the development of Neruda's early social consciousness in his poetry and prose written prior to the publication of Crepusculario in 1923. The term I use to characterize his political beliefs is "social justice," and I pay special attention to the role of Neruda's uncle Orlando Mason in his formation. |
