Anatomical Double-Row Lateral Meniscus Root Repair Using Suture Anchors

Posterior lateral meniscus root tear leads to extrusion of meniscus and increased instability of knee joint. This leads to loss of hoop stresses with increased and progressive wear of cartilage. Conservative management of root tear in the absence of osteoarthritis is ineffective, and meniscus root r...

description Posterior lateral meniscus root tear leads to extrusion of meniscus and increased instability of knee joint. This leads to loss of hoop stresses with increased and progressive wear of cartilage. Conservative management of root tear in the absence of osteoarthritis is ineffective, and meniscus root repair results in delayed progression of osteoarthritis and improved clinical outcomes. Lateral meniscus root, having a larger surface area, needs a stiffer and secure fixation. Our double-row meniscus root repair technique allows a larger contact area for healing, better biomechanics, low retear, and no tunnel interference with concomitant procedure.
