Summary:One of the basic characteristics of contemporary society is rapid population aging. Rural areas in Serbian society that are most undeveloped are also ones with the most aged population. In such context, aging of the population is not only demographic, but also social issue. Old population living in rural communities is double deprived. Their working and physical capabilities as well as their health condition are in decline and local rural community and their families are not always able to fulfill their basic life needs. Paper focuses on the analysis of the old rural population` life quality based upon empirical data from the sociological research of their social position. The research was conducted based on the use of the semi standardized interviews on a sample of the 300 old persons living in five villages in Vojvodina.
