description | The article studies the process of formation of US-Ukrainian relations in the area of outer space explore and exploitation. The regularities of relations between the US and Ukraine establishing in the situation of disintegration of the Soviet Union are also considered . The idea of the inevitability of establishing bilateral relations in the space sector in the context of the transformation of international relations 1990-s, especially relying on global trends of its commercialization, is proclaimed. The author identifies United States were more interested in the presence of significant arsenal of nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory than in the possibility of using potential space technology of the USSR, especially in the conditions of necessary to eliminate nuclear threat at the beginning of the 1990s. However, since the early 2000’s, a new phase in US-Ukrainian relations and cooperation in space branch and general political cooperation begins. An idea that a powerful impulse to review prospects for the US space program was a disaster of space shuttle «Colombia» in February 1, 2003 is proved in the article. The author also traces the evolution of the Ukraine-US relations in the space sector in the light of worsening of Ukrainian relations with Russia in 2013 because of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, occupation of The Crimea and beginning the war in the East regions of Ukraine. In the conditions of recent termination of cooperation with Russia in the field of peaceful space exploitation, a new phase in US-Ukrainian relations in the space sector begins, in particular through its commercialization. |
