Description
Summary:Latin American literature presents a lot of images about the continent, specially an utopian image and its reversion, an image of disenchantment caused by the urban violence. Utopian figurations, which appeared firstly in the Indian historians texts, are studied in Carlos Fuentes, Gabriel García Márquez and Pedro Henríquez Ureña writings. Then, during last decade of the 20th century, writers such as Fernando Vallejo, Gonzalo Celorio and Hector Abad Faciolince build an opposite image in their novels. They write about urban violence and this subject can be read as a disenchanted view about Latin America.
