Description
Summary:From Republic to Empire, many colonial deductions supported the Roman conquest of territories and the domination over Italy and the provinces. These cities shared a common legal and political status that partly shaped their public religious life, which had to follow the rules of Roman law. The study of the lex Vrsonensis, the only colonial foundation charter at our disposal, together with case studies analysis, focused on the priests and cults attested in several colonies, provide an overview of the contrasting situations visible in the Roman empire.
