The reviewed collective volume falls within the stream of research on the language of religion, yet – unlike theolinguistics, which deals with different varieties of religious texts – the presented studies focus on the use of religious vocabulary in secular contexts. The studies deal with the processes of linguistic secularisation, sociology of religion, and above all – linguistics. The volume consists of twenty-six studies by scholars for Germany, Poland and Slovakia.

Recenzowana monografia zbiorowa włącza się w nurt badań nad językiem religii, jednak w odróżnieniu od teolingwistyki, która zajmuje się różnymi wariantami tekstów religijnych, prezentowane badania koncentrują się na funkcjonowaniu religijnej leksyki w świeckich dyskursach. Tematyka tomu dotyczy procesów językowej sekularyzacji, badanych z perspektywy różnych dyscyplin humanistycznych: kulturoznawstwa, socjologii religii i przede wszystkim językoznawstwa. Tom składa się z 26 opracowań naukowych uczonych z Niemiec, Polski i Słowacji.
