description The author articulates the notion of carpal joint, describes its functional anatomy. Particular attention is given to the importance of external and internal ligaments providing the dynamic stability of the radiocarpal joint and wrist. All the main ray methods and techniques of X-ray diagnosis of pathological changes in ligaments of this region were characterized. The main role of MRI-studies in the diagnosis of ligament injuries and carpal instability is proved. The authors has drawn conclusion about the need to continue to explore the potential of MRI in the diagnosis of ligamentous injuries of structures wrist and wrist.
