The Musée de la Musique organized the 12th of April 2013 a study-day entitled: Dans la Venise Musicale du XVIIe siècle. Autopsie d'un trésor de guerre: un orchestre militaire, to discuss the historical context and the scientific
analyses carried out on some instruments of the Correr Museum collection.
The 39 musical instruments, belonged to a military band (Mehter also called Janissary) that was brought as war chest in Venice in 1690 by the admiral Francesco Morosini. The study day was the result of a one-year research that took place in 2012, in collaboration with the Correr Museum and the Italian
Ministry of Cultural Heritage. |
