Summary:The aim of this work was to determine the removal of Chromium (VI) in aqueous solution by the biomass of shrimp shell by the colorimetric method of Diphenylcarbazide. Bioadsorption was evaluated at different pH's (1, 2, 3 and 4) and at different incubation times. Too, the effect of temperature in the range of 28°C to 70oC and removal at different initial concentrations of the metal (100-500 mg/L), were studied. The most removal of metal (90%) was at 24 hours, to pH 1.0, 28oC and 1 g of biomass, while at a higher temperature and biomass concentration the removal is greater, but if the concentration of the metal is increased, the removal efficiency decreases. Furthermore, 5 g of biomass removal 80% of Chromium (VI) from earth contaminated with 297 mg of metal/g of earth at 96 hours of incubation at 28oC.
