Summary:<p>This scholarly article aims to investigate the communicative-functional characteristics of ecclesiastical-religious messages in the context of Orthodox Christian discourse. Utilizing methods from cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics and discourse analysis, the study focuses on the messages delivered by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and his predecessor Alexy II. The research seeks to understand the underlying cognitive models shaping these messages and how they manifest at the linguistic level. The ultimate goal is to identify the principal communicative functions and roles that these messages fulfill within the ecclesiastical and social dialogue. This study is instrumental in offering a deeper comprehension of the mechanisms by which religious discourse influences sociocultural dynamics.</p>
