description This current research aims to study regional disparities, analyse levels of development, identify the most developed areas and disadvantaged areas and determine the explanatory factors in the state of Sidi Bouzid. The analysis of the basic indicators has indeed enabled us to detect the presence of a certain number of disparities in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid in terms of economic and social development of the delegations. We used the Euclidean distance method that allowed us to measure the distance between delegations at the development level. This method highlighted the importance of the gap between Sidi Bouzid Ouest, which has the highest development index, and the rest of the delegations. Notable differences were also observed between the Rgueb and Meknassy delegations, on the one hand, and the rest of the delegations on the other. In general, a contrast appeared clearly between the eastern and western areas of the state. The eastern delegations obtained a better development coefficient due to the proximity of the eastern regional poles, where the ports and airports are located and the importance of the natural factors conducive to agricultural activities. The marginalized western areas (7 delegations) have a low index due to the remoteness of the favored coastal areas of the country as well as the unfavorable natural factor and the absence of cities capable of attracting rural populations and influxes and promoting the development. The development of disadvantaged delegations inevitably involves the optimal use of all available resources, equitable development (positive discrimination, etc.), territorial solidarity, citizenship, democracy and territorial governance.
