Summary:An article published sixty years ago by the bulletin of scientific divulgation for students and professors of the faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Cartagena, Colombia, concerning to the surgical techniques for the management of genital prolapse is presented. The loss of the pelvic floor support has been tackled since various surgical alternatives. There have been several proposals and the work of the professor Hernando Taylor Henríquez demonstrated it. The majority of the suggested techniques has been questioned quickly or considered ineffective. Currently there are diverse suggested techniques, with different approaches and even with the resource of prosthesis or meshwork, with controversies about which is the best of them. The text presents in detail, the technique preferred by the author, who has been considered one of the parents of the gynecological surgery in the Universidad de Cartagena.
