Description
Summary:The Caucasus has traditionally been a focus of attention of many countries including great powers which used the existing conflicts in the region as a tool for bargaining in pursuing their interests. With the increase of globalization tendencies and the appearance of the idea of sustainable development the region got a chance of changing the vectors of its future development. Nevertheless, the presence of a number of factors of conflict nature including conflict communication between the states of the region impedes its sustainable development. Using discourse analysis framework, the authors try to determine the linguistic means which express conflicting tendencies. The discourse analysis is conducted on the material of official news from Armenian and Azerbaijani websites. The authors come to conclusion that to promote sustainable development both countries need to find a compromise, and communicative activity may become the key area where conflicting interests may be reconciled.
