Summary:Treatment of 2-pyridyl-ferrocene wit [Cp*IrCl<sub>2</sub>]<sub>2</sub> in the presence of NaOAc produces the title compound Cp*ClIr[(C<sub>5</sub>H<sub>3</sub>C<sub>5</sub>H<sub>4</sub>N-кN,кC)Fe(C<sub>5</sub>H<sub>5</sub>)] (<b>2</b>) in low yield. A crystal structure determination shows the (<i>S<sub>p</sub>S<sub>Ir</sub></i>/<i>R<sub>p</sub>R<sub>Ir</sub></i>)-<b>2</b> enantiomeric pair of diastereomers.
