description The article discusses the fundamentals of developing a methodology for designing modular hydro units for small and micro hydropower plants (HPPs), as well as the advantages of such hydro units. A methodology for forming and restricting the normal nomenclature of hydro turbines based on probabilistic analysis of a range of energy parameters most commonly encountered in Russia is proposed. Unlike traditional hydro turbines, a modular execution of the main units of the modular hydro turbine is proposed, which will allow for serial production. Based on calculations and data analysis, optimal fields of applicability for the designed hydro turbines have been constructed. Structural analysis of modular hydro units has been conducted.
