description Primary intestinal lymphangiectasia is a rare condition of unknown etiology. It is a lymphatic system disorder that causes intestinal lymphatic dilation and leads to edema, malabsorption, steatorrhea and enteral protein loss. In order to highlight the importance of the clinical method in guiding the study and diagnosis of rare diseases, the clinical history of a male patient aged 25 is presented. The patient was admitted with diarrhea and swelling of the lower limbs. This diagnosis was reached with data from the interview, the physical examination findings and the results of the complementary tests, and the patient improved the clinical manifestations with the therapeutic measures taken.
