Description
Summary:In connection with the resumption of activity of the United States in Central Europe, the author analyzes the development of the relations of the United States with the Visegrad countries since the end of 1980’s till nowadays. Special attention is paid to the recent visits of American presidents to this part of Europe, as well as to the latest «Visegrad» tour by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, during which he emphasized the unique character of the countries of the region and tried to deepen the controversy between the European Union and the countries that joined EU in 2004. The visit in general could be characterized by historical symbolism combined with anti-Russian rhetoric, as well as attempts to sell American liquefied gas and military equipment to Central Europe.
