Description
Summary:Analyze the distribution of hospitalizations for diarrhea in children under 5 years of age in the state of MT. This is an article descriptive, cross-sectional, secondary data on hospitalizations for Diarrheal Disease in the municipalities of MT from 2001 to 2010 in children under 5 years obtained by Datasus and IBGE. Were hospitalized 31,032 children under 5 years of age with a diagnosis of diarrheal disease, average hospitalization time of 3 days. The prevalence is higher in the dry season, with a peak between the months from September to October, among male children, aged 1-4 years, mostly for diagnosis of diarrhea and gastroenteritis of presumed origin. Despite the progress of the program, it is necessary to rethink the advances in preventive and basic sanitation
