description The myth of ≪ Heracles at the crossroads ≫ which occupies almost one half of the first discourse On Kingship by Dion of Pruse, is generally presented as the climax of the basilikos logos ; the symbolic connections between the characters are equally marked out according to the following combinations : Trajan-Heracles, Dion-Hermes. We intend to reconsider that grid which does not fully account for the message delivered by the orator-philosopher, for his reflection on the expectations of the genre, for his position towards the emperor.
