description The article presents an attempt to perform a theoretical analysis regarding the use of political myths in election campaigns. The authors proved that the distinctive characteristics of a political myth include a teleological concept, certain political aims, full mythmakers’ awareness and dynamism. It is rightly demonstrated that under the conditions, or as part of an election campaign, myths exist in the form of a multilevel structure, performing explicative, manipulative, convening and other functions. The authors concluded that the main goal of political myths in election campaigns is to bring political confrontation towards a sensual and emotional rather than a rational level, which is equally stimulated by all kinds of myths: central, main, personal, etc.
