Summary:scientist, innovator(dedicated to the 125th anniversary of his birth). 2020 is marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Kasparovich Ventskovsky, the first head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Bukovinian State Medical University. The article presents a short biography of M. K. Ventskovsky, his life story as a doctor and teacher. The aim of the work is to explore the life path and activities of prof. Ventskovsky as the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as his role in the development of practical medicine in Chernivtsi region. Methodology of the study includes such methods as biographical, descriptive, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, collection, selection and generalization of information data. An analysis of not only the life but also the professional path of Prof. Ventskivsky was conducted. Particular attention is paid to his contribution to the development of obstetrics and gynecology in the Chernivtsi region. Conclusions. Prof. Ventskovsky created an extremely large contribution to the formation and further development of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He brought up a large number of qualified specialists and talented scientists. During his work, the performance indicators of practical medicine have significantly improved (the birth rate has increased, the morbidity and mortality rates have decreased).
