description The paper follows the issue of population aging, a global phenomenon, which has a profound impact on all generations and largely on some areas of economic and social activity: labor market, education, culture, social protection, politics. Life expectancy in Romania is lower than in the European Union, although it has increased since 2000. Also, preventable mortality remains high in Romania, health spending’s have reached a historical minimum level and are much lower than in any other country from EU, to which is added also the workforce deficit from health field.
