Application of Thermal Tomography Methods for Characterization of Defects in Composite Materials Used for Light Ballistic Armours

Imaging the tested material (object) in layer by layer mode is called tomography. This paper describes two methods of thermal tomography used in non-destructive testing: Dynamic Thermal Tomography (DTT), in the paper called „classical”, and „no reference” thermal tomography. description Imaging the tested material (object) in layer by layer mode is called tomography. This paper describes two methods of thermal tomography used in non-destructive testing: Dynamic Thermal Tomography (DTT), in the paper called „classical”, and „no reference” thermal tomography. These methods used for location and characterization of defects in the multilayer samples of carbon composite (CFRP) subjected to mechanical impacts of different energy, have shown their effectiveness.
