Summary:Ismaël Boulliau spent the first third of his life in Loudun, where he was born five years before the assassination of Henri IV at the end of September 1605. When he left for Paris in the early 1630s, Louis XIII, seconded by Richelieu, reigns supreme. Loudun has changed a lot. He was born in a prosperous and active city, he leaves a bruised city. During his years in Loudun, the young Ismaël Boulliau witnessed the transformations that this article sets out to describe.
