Summary:The practices of tropical sericulture in Karnataka State, South India. India has evolved a package of practices for tropical sericulture. The extension of improved techniques of moriculture and silkworm rearing in sericultural villages of Karnataka has increased the yield of cocoon production. However, the main innovation of these last years is the introduction of bivoltine races of silkworm and the creation of a new hybrid. The characteristics of sericulture practices related to bivoltine and hybrid rearing are surveyed for two regions of Karnataka.
