Summary:Purpose. The article is devoted to the actual problem of training highly qualified personnel who are capable of incorporating new information technologies into the educational process. The subject of the analysis is the readiness of educators to improve ICT-competence. The authors aim to identify the level of ICT-competence of teachers of different age categories. Methodology. The research is based on general theoretical and empirical methods such as comparative analysis, generalization, observation, questioning, experiment. Results. The authors present an analysis of the ascertaining experiment results. The authors conclude that there is a problem of heterogeneity in the level of ICT-competence among teachers of different generations, so the question arises about the need to level the competence level of education workers at a high level. Practical implications. The results of the research reveal the need for a qualitative approach to the problem of enhancing the ICT competence of a modern teacher. New ideas are needed in the system of regular training and retraining in the sphere of information and communication technologies in pedagogical activity.
