Description
Summary:Because of the phonetic reasons occurring in the process of articulation of voiceless consonants, the enlargement of sound path of those consonants is called sonarisation. Sonarisation is one of the most common sound events observed in many world languages and Turkish language. This sound event is observed since the earliest periods of Turkish language and especially in some historical ages and contemporary dialects as a significant tendance. Basing on Turkish Language, sonarisation is considered to have occurred in relation to some reasons such as easy saying (the east effort rule), shortening of long vowels, voiceless consonants’ presence between two vowels and again those consonants’ neighbouring some other consonants. In this study, the sound event of sonarisation is examined with its reasons in Oghuz, Kypchak, North-East and Qarluq groups as contemporary Turkish written languages. In the examining process, diachronic, synchronic, and comparative grammar analysing techniques have been used.
