Description
Summary:This article aimed to do a reflection about the effects of the construction of hydroelectric power plants in the Legal Amazon, with the articulation of civil society face of these large undertakings is the keynote of our analysis. We seek to observe the main territorial conflicts involving the hydroelectric works of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), implemented between the years of 2007 and 2014. We also conducted an analysis from a Political Geography of the construction of hydroelectric plants and the emergence of disputes between political, economic and business agents and civil society and social movements. Our methodology consisted of surveying bibliographic and documental sources about the subject, secondary data and carrying out fieldwork in the studied locations. We conclude that the articulated performance of the social resistance movements is essential for a counterpower, guaranteeing fundamental rights to the populations affected by the implantation of hydroelectric projects, that the State-Capital structure itself presupposes the absence of full reparation for these peoples.
