Description
Summary:This article analyses the relationship between industrial productivity growth and the Brazilian trade liberalization program that began in 1988. Using a econometric model we estimated total factor productivity adjusted by returns to scale and market power. The results show that there is a high mark-up in the Brazilian transformation industry. This is a expected result because of high protection level in Brazilian economy in the past. Thus making adjustment the article show that total factor productivity without correction under- estimate the true productivity growth.
