description | Objective: Statistical measuring of the influence of economic growth on the social sphere of African countries’ population. Methods: Correlation-regression method (nonlinear equations), point prediction, descriptive statistics. Results: The weak influence of African countries’ economic growth on poverty level is revealed. The solution to this problem is proposed. Scientific novelty: The import and export increase in African countries in 2000–2011 is described by exponential function; the non-formal sector is the reason for the incomplete estimation of GDP, unemployment and, consequently, reducing the efficiency of programs aimed at poverty reduction, as the poverty level elasticity by people’s incomes is lower in Africa than in Latin America and Asia. Conclusion is made on the necessity to introduce the newest technologies into the region’s economy. Practical value: The obtained results allow to review the objectives of social programs in African countries and invest into certain sectors depending on their importance. |
